Ray Habib Final Project

I have created a video with a voice-over of original poetry. The video follows young women creating art of all types, showing the detail and dedication placed into the craft of art that way too often goes unnoticed. The poetry attempts to discuss the unfair advantage that the woman is placed at, strictly because of her gender. It also imposes a message to men around the world to take a step back and understand that, factually--regardless of your personal belief-- women artists have struggled and faced unfair treatment. It also touches upon the objectification of women, with a line saying that the men "complimented the blues of her eyes, but never the blues of her painted skies." The song in the background belongs to Pretty Lights, titled Yellow Bird. The melody of the song seemed to fit the tone of the poem, hence the placement.

Below is a stanza from the poem:

"They made sure to compliment the blues of her eyes,
But never the blues of her painted skies.
They made sure to tell her if her skirt was too high,
But never paid attention to the alignment of her lines"
