Rajita Nayee Final Project

For my semester project I created a feminist blog: http://thequietfeminist.wix.com/blog

The blog is published and can be seen by anyone.
The home page invites readers in with a newspaper-like theme and informs the reader about who I am and what the blog is about. I explain the reasoning behind "The Quiet Feminist" and why I decided to use that name. "The name TQF has a double meaning. As you know I am an introvert (look over to the left) I'm known for being quiet (unless you're related to me then I'm annoying and won't shut up) I hate talking and I basically never speak up.Women are silenced, we have no voice (look over to the right) We try to speak up, take a stand but there's always some man that manages to come in and speak for us - that man has no idea what it is that women DESERVE, need and/or want..."
The blog is shared with people who follow me or my Pinterest Board: "Feminist"

My identity is important to the blog, I don't write like I have many PhD's and I don't write in an essay-like manner either. The blog is essentially me talking, the way I talk - corny jokes and all. My identity as a female, a feminist, an Indian/Hindu American is all important and relevant to my blog. My love for movies, television, music, and media are showcased in my blog as well.

Some Summaries of my Posts
I Couldn't. Can You? : talks about the first day of this class and how we were asked to name artists, male and female. I put people in family to the test and recorded the results. I also did a few other versions for Movie directors/writers, Television Show creators/executive producers, and Music producers/record label/company owners.
Your Art Can Make A Statement Too #DonateAPhoto : talks about an app by J&J that allows people to upload one photo everyday for a different cause. For each picture uploaded J&J donates $1 to the cause. I go on to mention how art is able to make statements, political or not and I talk about discovering an artist that I had been wanting to know for a while.
Dekh Le = Take A Look : a reaction post about an Indian commercial that was made to help women empowerment. The main focus of the commercial was the male gaze and I talk a lot about what the male gaze is and relate it back to the commercial
My Buttons Are Buttoned. My Zippers are Zipped. Let's Keep it That Way: talks about the Guerrilla Girls and there "Do Women have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum?" poster/campaign. I talk about how women are often asked to take off their clothes in the entertainment industry and how it is relevant to the Guerrilla Girls and their findings with female artists in museums.
Rowan University | Today's Lesson: Selfies : is a blog post about selfie culture that talks about Rowan Blanchard an actress who comes to Kim Kardashian-West's defense with a tweet. The tweet attacks the idea of the male gaze and the idea of naked v nude by saying, "Girls being nude publicly isn't new: but isn't it nice when they can be the subject of the image, & the portrayer too?"
MeOw: I'm Hurt by Your Disrespect : a blog post mainly focused on catcalling. I talk about Rowan Blanchard's experience being catcalled at 12, my own personal experience, and also talk about a social experiment video from a few years back that follows a woman walking the streets of NY and being catcalled.
