Shao Hua was a major general and a passionate photographer of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Shao was born in Yan'an in northwest province of Shaanxi, which was also the stepping stone of the Chinese Communist revolution. Furthermore, she became the daughter-in-law of Mao Zedong when she married his son, Mao Anqing. Shao Hua actively expressed her love for photography in the early 1950s after learning how to use an old Soviet camera to take a picture of Chairman Mao. throughout her discovered passion for this art, Shao accomplished photographing the progress of the Chinese Communist Party. She took numerous pictures of the country's people, leaders, chairman, revolutionary events, and scenery; her pictures were published in newspapers and magazines such as People's Daily and China Photo. As a major recorder of China's political history since the early 1950s, the passionate photographer was highly respected, in which she eventually was honored to be called "Mother Shao Hua" for her patriotic duty to capture the nation's historical events.
