My project is on self portraits I am done with my own painting.  I am not an artist but this project was a fun one and now I am very interested in paintings and drawing. I'm looking for female artists that painted themselves like Sofonisba, and Artemisia Gentileschi. I am currently looking for more females artists that painted themselves.

    This is a great idea.Art is so much fun even if one isn't good at it. The only thing I'm confused about is that you didn't mention how your project will reach an outside audience. One idea is that maybe you can write about your experience with painting a self portrait and any obstacles that you faced.You can then connect it to how it probably wasn't easy to for artists back then like artemisa to paint a self portrait. Maybe you can make a site to publish your work or a blog.

    This is great I'm no artist either and I like to paint. Im excited to see how your painting comes out! I also agree with Laura however, Im concerned about how you'll get this out and published as an artist and what exactly you will be pitching to the class. An idea could also be how empowering it is for artists like Sofonisba and Artemisia to portray themselves as they want to be seen versus how the male gaze wants them to be seen. I think you can use the male gaze well with your project. Good luck!
